The Meindl Philadelphia GTX walking shoes are an incredibly protective shoe designed for low level trail and urban walking. Made from the highest quality Nubuck leather, this shoe is durable and supple with an element of class. The addition of a GORE-TEX lining makes it breathable and waterproof, ensuring its suitability for all weather conditions.
As part of Meindl’s Comfort-Fit range the Philadelphia GTX has a wider front allowing more space for movement whilst maintaining a firmer grip on the heel.
The shoe comes equipped with an Air-Active Wellness Sport footbed, providing a superbly comfy, cushioned insole simultaneously enabling the circulation of fresh air.
The Philadelphia GTX is paired with a Comfort-Fit sole, the Meindl Comfort Sport. This provides an excellent grip on a variety of terrain and a soft underfoot giving you an enjoyable walking experience.
This shoe is recommended for long hikes to everyday wear.
Conditioning and proofing spray keeps nubuck leather and suede protected. The boots can be treated when the uppers aren’t quite dry – it ensures they’ll remain supple. Applying a little wax to the hooks and eyelets will protect them from corrosion

In-stock items are dispatched the same day if ordered before 2pm (Monday - Friday) or the next working day if ordered after 2pm or on a weekend.
Deliveries are normally next working day for orders over £100. If under £100, we sometimes use a 48 hour service. You will have the option to upgrade to a next day service at the checkout.
Special Order items are dispatched within the timescales displayed after selecting your size.
Most orders are dispatched using DPD Next Working Day.
We use Royal Mail for the more remote parts of Scotland, the Channel Islands and Northern Ireland. Please allow a little extra time for delivery in these areas.
For orders under £60, we normally dispatch using Royal Mail 48 with delivery being made in 2 to 3 days. You will have the option to upgrade to a next day service in the checkout.
A tracking number will be emailed to you for all orders over £100 on the day of dispatch.
For orders under £100 dispatched using an untracked economy service, a reference number will be emailed, but you will not get full tracking, only confirmation once delivery has been attempted.
Sometimes you will see 'Special Order' when selecting your size. For these items, we will dispatch once we have received them from our supplier.
An estimated lead time will be displayed for Special Order items.
Yes, returns are accepted within 30 days of purchase so long as it is unused and still in it's original packaging*.

. 1st walk in them was 5 miles. 2nd walk today 13 miles, both routes across country in Norfolk Broads. Wearing thin liner socks and thicker merino "Icebreaker' socks on top. No sore toes!!! At last!!
II bought for a trip to Scotland , so pleased I did, the wide fit was great for extra thick shocks when needed, so comfortable walking up & down hills, in snow, water, marsh, heather, I would recommend this shoes & love my pair
This is the third pair of Meindl Philadelphia Lady GTX Wide Fit Walking Shoes that I have purchased. The first pair was in 2015, the mens version at that time didn't go small enough, it was suggested that I try the lady pair. Fitted like a glove and so comfortable. I am still using that pair daily. The sole is in good nick, the leather is supple, some of the stitching is showing signs of wear, still have the original laces, but these are my every day shoes. I purchased the second pair 2 years ago for best. Now the first pair is at some point going to fail, I want to be ready with another pair. I have small wide feet and these shoes are superb and probably the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. Well I am ready and stocked up. It will be sad day when I finally have to let the first pair go. Might give them a viking burial. Superb service.
I’ve had about 4-5 pairs of these walking shoes. They are wider than usual, which I need.
Always buy Meindl walking boots and shoes as they are the best. Very comfortable and sturdy. Hill and Dale were selling the shoes are realistic prices so I bought two pairs 👍
Very comfortable shoes. Immediately felt comfortable wearing these shoes. Perfect for walking and comfort all day long. Its not very often I find a pair as comfortable for wide fit.

I bought these shoes as a lighter alternative to my Meindl boots for holiday purposes, and I am more than impressed. I wore them only once before taking them on a country walk, and they were so comfortable right away - very light on, no rubbing at all, and really good grip on a range of surfaces. They are more expensive than I’d normally pay for shoes, but worth every penny! I would whole-heartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a comfy + sturdy walking shoe that works for wider feet.
Comfortable and waterproof. In comparison with previous Meindl walking shoes i have bought the fit is bigger so the shoes are looser so I need thicker socks. I would prefer ordinary leather rather than Nubuck because nubuck marks easily. I have worn tgem for a couple of weeks in wet weather and so far they are waterproof

A really quality shoe.
Having a fallen arch and wide feet, I have found it difficult to get comfortable walking shoes. However, I am now on my fifth pair of these Meindl shoes. They are on my feet everyday of the year as I walk my dogs twice a day. I do have to add arch supporting insoles, but the wide toe box is great. As I wear them so much, I tend to find that the lining of the heel tends to wear away quite quickly, which is annoying with such expensive shoes. I always use a shoe horn to put them on, but the lining still goes. It does mean that the shoes have to be replaced every year

Superb shoes, waterproof, comfortable and hard wearing with exceptional grip.
I have been wearing this style of Meindl for the last 24 years, this new pair being my 4th. Always fit perfectly and keep my feet warm and dry. I wear them for rambling and shopping if the weather is unpredictable. Can’t recommend them enough.
Great boots
Just received my second pair of these shoes. Wear them all the time! Great for hiking or about town. Comfortable, waterproof and look good. My only concern is that the sole has a poor grip and they don’t last very long… tbh they are the only shoes that fit me! Still highly recommended.
This is the second pair I have bought so I can wear one pair against the other.
No need to break in just wear and go - I have wide feet and an awkward gait and they have passed every test even on the roughest ground with no signs of wear except the inner footbed,( I added a pair of shock proof innersoles when they started to wear) but the soles of the shoes are still perfect. Highly recommend as they give good support and by double knotting the laces they stay put all day. Excellent service from Hill and Dale with quick delivery and all at a good price
I love these walking shoes. They provide great support and are comfortable. I ordered 2 more pairs in case you ever stop making them! Please don’t. I wear them nearly every day - hiking in the summer and in the winter they keep out the cold and the rain whenever I’m outside. When they retire, I use them for gardening.

This is my third pair of these exact shoes. Been wearing Meindl walking shoes and boots for years but I especially like these because they are slightly wider at the toes and so much more comfortable on long walks. My only criticism of these shoes concerns the laces which I find come undone very easily, which is a bit annoying. Less smooth laces would be a definitely added bonus please.

Brought these as replacement to my Merrill hiking shoes, which I wear daily for dog walking. Decided to get the Meindl Ladies Philadelphia hiking shoes, so glad I did. Excellent comfort from the first wear, love the wider toe area, they are well made and I expect will certainly last for a good few years.
